We Don’t Have Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Trailer! Should We Be Concerned?

We Don’t Have Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Trailer! Should We Be Concerned?

We’re months away from Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This is one of 2026’s most anticipated films and because of that people are wanting a trailer for the film. But we haven’t gotten it yet, should we be concerned? Let’s talk about it!

My Thoughts

To answer the question up front, no I don’t think we should be concerned that we don’t have Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s trailer yet. It’s been a bit surprising just how much people on the internet are legitimately concerned about this film because we don’t have the trailer. It’s not like we don’t know anything about this movie. We got the title almost a year ago and we know the full cast for the film. We’ve gotten some set leaks of Tom Holland swinging a round and some behind the scenes footage. We’ve gotten material and information of this film but we haven’t gotten a full length trailer for the film. There’s two main reasons as to why I think people are concerned about Brand New Day’s trailer not releasing yet.

First up, people are making the comparison to Avengers: Doomsday. This is the most obvious comparison, it’s another big studio Marvel film. People are saying that Marvel Studios started promoting Doomsday a year before it came out and Brand New Day came out five months earlier and we have nothing. There’s a fair argument to be had there, they’re marketing a film that comes out in December 2026 compared to a film that comes out in July 2026. I think the difference is that there’s a lot of skepticism surrounding Doomsday. People are excited for the film, I predict it’s going to make over $1 billion. But the MCU isn’t as strong and this film needs to work and be a win. If this movie fails with critics and audiences then the MCU is in big trouble. They need to do more marketing to get people excited. You contrast this with Brand New Day, a movie that already has built in excitement. Spider-Man is probably the most popular superhero of all time. Spider-Man is a constant money maker for Sony. The one that people point to as a box office failure is The Amazing Spider-Man 2, that film still made $700 million. A Spider-Man movie “flopping” is still making more than any live action Superman movie. This movie is EASILY going to make $1 billion. It’s also five years since Tom Holland’s last Spider-Man movie, No Way Home. That film was universally praised and made almost $2 billion. The fact that we’re having to wait five years for another Spider-Man movie is an example of absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Second, people are saying that it’s weird that we didn’t get a trailer for at least a tv spot during the Super Bowl. There were a lot of rumors and speculation that the first trailer would debut during the Super Bowl. The reason people say that is because the previous two Marvel films to release in July, Deadpool & Wolverine and The Fantastic 4: First Steps both debuted their first trailers during the Super Bowl. People looked at that and assumed that Brand New Day’s trailer would debut here. I thought that there’s a good chance that the trailer would debut. But none of Tom Holland’s previous Spider-Man films had a trailer during the Super Bowl. I think the Super Bowl would be primarily trailers for movies that need excitement and people to know about. Spider-Man as a brand is massive and doesn’t need the Super Bowl to get people’s attention that a new trailer dropped. They can drop the trailer on a random Monday and it’ll get people talking and be the big headline for the day.

Why I’m Not Nervous: With that out of the way, I’ll say this, I’m not nervous or concerned about the film whatsoever. This is my second most anticipated film of 2026 and I stand by that. The thing that I think people need to remember in this, Marvel Studios is not marketing Brand New Day, Sony is. Sony and Marvel Studios seem to do marketing very differently. Marvel decided to start marketing Doomsday a year in advance and Brand New Day clearly isn’t interested in that. I think if you can heavily market your film in a shorter period of time it’s easier to build excitement. If they drop Brand New Day’s first trailer in early March, then that’s probably smart because you have a shorter window of time in which you need to market your film. The final thing to consider here, No Way Home’s first trailer didn’t drop until less than 4 months from its release date. The trailer debuted August 23rd, 2021 when the film released December 17th, 2021. As previously started, that movie made almost $2 billion at the box office. There was a 116 day gap between the first trailer and release date. If we go based on that, then Brand New Day’s trailer might drop in early April. I believe Cinema Con is happening in early April, Sony is having a panel. That could be the perfect time to drop the trailer.
