2026 Razzie Nominations! My Thoughts!
A couple days back we got the nominations for the 2026 Razzies, the same week we got the Oscar nominations. Here’s my thoughts on the nominations!
NOTE: One thing to keep in mind about these nominations is I don’t actually find the Razzies to be all that fun or exciting. I’ve looked at the nominations and several of them feel like there’s a vendetta against certain actors. There’s a fun version of the Razzies, but there’s another kind like this that feels so pointless and not fun.
Worst Picture
- The Electric State
- Hurry Up Tomorrow
- Snow White
- Star Trek: Section 31
- War of the Worlds
- My Thoughts: Right out of the gate, I haven’t seen ⅗ of these movies. The ones I saw were The Electric State and Snow White. I debated watching War of the Worlds sort of just to dunk on it. I never did and then I forgot that a new Star Trek movie came out. Star Trek is such an iconic franchise that a new movie came out this year and nobody knew about it. Hurry up Tomorrow just looked and sounded terrible so I didn’t want to spend $15 to go see it in the theater. I don’t know what streaming platforms it went to. Of the two films that I’ve seen, Snow White makes sense to be on here. That is a totally bad film that is one of the worst films of 2025. I defend The Electric State, I never really understood why people hated that movie. It’s not great, it’s deeply flawed but one of the worst films of the year? C’mon, no. I don’t think The Electric State should be nominated for any Razzies. It’s just not a bad film in my mind.
Worst Actor
- Dave Bautista (In the Lost Lands)
- Ice Cube (War of the Worlds)
- Scott Eastwood (Alarum)
- Jared Leto (Tron: Ares)
- Abel “The Weekend” Tesfaye (Hurry Up Tomorrow)
- My Thoughts: This is one that seems to have some vendetta against it. The one I’m pointing to is Jared Leto in Tron: Ares. Now I haven’t seen this film, but the fact that Tron: Ares only got one nomination and it’s for Jared Leto seems like he was nominated because it’s Jared Leto. Leto is a weird guy, Will Smith and Margot Robbie have pubically talked about his weird on-set behavior on Suicide Squad (2016). This is what I’m talking about in regards to the boring side of the Razzies, Jared Leto’s nomination feels more like it’s a vendetta against him and just another way to dunk on him. Like I said, I haven’t seen the film, I don’t know if he should or shouldn’t be on here. But, based on what I know just by seeing his name on the list, it’s weird that he’s on here. I’m not surprised that Ice Cube and The Weekend are on here, I mean multiple memes were made about their performance. We’ll talk more about Scott Eastwood and Alarum later on. The other weird one is Dave Bautista in In the Lost Lands. This is another one that I haven’t seen, it got a limited theatrical release in March. I heard the movie was bad, do I believe that Dave Bautista gave one of the five worst performances of the year? No I do not. Bautitsa’s nomination feels more like they were picking on a bad movie. Bautista’s nomination doesn’t feel inspired or anything like that, it’s such a generic and bland pick.
Worst Actress
- Ariana DeBose (Love Hurts)
- Mills Jovovich (In the Lost Lands)
- Natalie Portman (Fountain of Youth)
- Rebel Wilson (Bride Hard)
- Michelle Yeoh (Star Trek: Section 31)
- My Thoughts: This is an interesting category because three of these actresses are Oscar winners. Natalie Portman won for Black Swan, Ariana DeBose won for West Side Story, and Michelle Yeoh won for Everything Everywhere All at Once. That’s fascinating to me, but I have a hard time believing that DeBose, Portman, and Yeoh actually gave three of the worst performances of the year. Rebel Wilson for Bride Hard? Sure, I can buy that. But the other three make no sense to me. The only film I saw was Fountain of Youth and Natalie Portman wasn’t terrible. The movie isn’t great but she was not the problem in the film. This is where it’s hard to take the Razzie nominations seriously. They pick on poorly received movies, which is the point of the Razzies but they don’t actually nominate bad performances. This is a stupid category filled with stupid nominees. I have seen some people argue that Rachel Zegler should be here for Snow White. I disagree with that. Of course, the movie isn’t great and deserves Razzie nominations, but she wasn’t the problem. Despite being a PR nightmare for the film, she was the best part about it. I don’t have any issue with her not being on this list.
Worst Remake/Rip-Off/Sequel
- Five Nights at Freddy’s 2
- I Know What You Did Last Summer
- Smurfs
- Snow White
- War of the Worlds
- My Thoughts: This is another one that has picks that seem obvious for this category. We knew that Snow White and War of the Worlds were going to be on here, those films are probably going to have the most wins here. Smurfs I didn’t see, I heard it was terrible. One fun thing about Smurfs is one of the stars Amy Sedaris was on Late Night with Seth Meyers when I saw a taping of that show while I was in New York, and she was promoting this film. Anyways, not terribly surprised this film is on the list. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and I Know What You Did Last Summer, are the horror representations here. I didn’t see either one so I can’t comment on the quality but I didn’t hear great things about them.
Worst Supporting Actress
- Anna Chlumsky (Bride Hard)
- Emma Horvath (The Strangers: Chapter 2)
- Scarlet Rose Stallone (Gunslingers)
- Kacey Rohl (Star Trek: Section 31)
- Isis Valverde (Alarum)
- My Thoughts: This is one that I don’t have any thoughts on. I haven’t heard of any of these people. Even two of these films, Gunslingers and Alarum, I hadn’t even heard of. I can’t really comment on this category. The one I actually want to talk about is one that wasn’t even nominated and kind of shocked me. Gal Gadot is not here for Snow White. That honestly surprised me. I didn’t hate her performance the way so many other people did, but it’s not a good performance. With all of the other nominations that Snow White received, I’m shocked she’s not on here.
Worst Supporting Actor
- All Seven Artificial Dwarfs (Snow White)
- Nicolas Cage (Gunslingers)
- Stephen Dorff (Bride Hard)
- Greg Kinnear (Off the Grid)
- Sylvester Stallone (Alarum)
- My Thoughts: This is the one I wanted to talk about, where three of the nominees in this category were for straight to DVD films. They were films that got no chatter whatsoever and I hadn’t even heard about them until now. Sylvester Stallone and Nicolas Cage both had movies released this year and nobody talked about it. That’s another reason why the Razzie nominations aren’t fun. They’re picking on-low budget films that didn’t have the technology or resources to actually make a great film. Alarum and Gunslingers’ budgets were probably pretty low, it feels like the films are nominated because they’re an easy target. Nicolas Cage is an Oscar winning actor. People forget that he won an Oscar 30+ years ago. I know that he’s done a lot of straight to DVD crap over the last 15-20 years, but do I believe that Nicolas Cage gave one of the worst supporting performances of the year? No I do not. The same thing goes to the Stallone nomination, he’s never been a guy known for his incredible range. But I bet his performance in Alarum, is about what you expected a 70 year Stallone performance to be, therefore it’s not an interesting nomination to have him on here. I don’t have too much of an opinion on Stephen Dorff or Greg Kinnear given they haven’t been relevant in 20 years. I do agree with the Snow White nomination here. That’s a true bad supporting performance if you can even call that a performance.
Worst Screen Combo
- All Seven Dwarfs (Snow White)
- James Corden & Rihanna (Smurfs)
- Ice Cube & His Zoom Camera (War of the Worlds)
- Robert DeNiro & Robert DeNiro (The Alto Knights)
- The Weekend & His Colossal Ego (Hurry Up Tomorrow)
- My Thoughts: The nominations of Snow White, War of the Worlds, and Hurry Up Tomorrow make enough sense to me. The Alto Knights one is weird to me. In case you forgot, Robert DeNiro had a new gangster movie release this year and nobody was talking about it. It didn’t get the best reviews so I’m sure that’s why nobody was talking about it. But once again, do I believe that Robert DeNiro’s performance is bad enough to be here? No I do not. Over the last 15-20 years he hasn’t already delivered the best performances in the best movies. But this is a gangster film. Robert DeNiro won an Oscar 50+ years ago for The Godfather: Part II where he played a gangster. This is more nonsense nominations from the Razzies, he shouldn’t be on here.
Worst Director
- Rich Lee (War of the Worlds)
- Olatunde Osunsanmi (Star Trek: Section 31)
- Joe and Anthony Russo (The Electric State)
- Trey Edward Shults (Hurry Up Tomorrow)
- Marc Webb (Snow White)
- My Thoughts: Once again, I felt like these were pretty easy to predict. These movies got several nominations each here, so it makes sense. Once again, I wouldn’t have put The Russo Brothers on here for The Electric State. I didn’t hate the movie, I didn’t think it was one of the worst movies of the year.
Worst Screenplay
- The Electric State
- Hurry Up Tomorrow
- Snow White
- Star Trek: Section 31
- War of the Worlds
- My Thoughts: Once again, no real thoughts here. It’s the same nominees listed above except for their screenplay. Once again (for the last time), I wouldn’t put The Electric State on here.
Who/What Was Missing?: I don’t really have a list of films or performances that I would put on here, just because I don’t think that way. But there are a few films that I’m surprised weren’t nominated at all. First up, Flight Risk. Do you guys remember that this movie came out? This was a January release starring Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Dockery, and Topher Grace, and it’s directed by Mel Gibson. I don’t think anybody expected this movie to be great, but the movie wasn’t good. This showed up on so many people’s worst films of 2025 list. I thought it would get on here in a few categories, especially Mark Wahlberg who isn’t giving a good performance. Second, Happy Gilmore 2 deserved to be on here. I didn’t like the movie at all and it got bad reviews so I thought it was going to get on here.
