Top 10 Most Anticipated Fall 2025 Movies

Top 10 Most Anticipated Fall 2025 Movies

The summer movie season is basically over, which means it’s time to start looking at the fall movies. This fall has a lot of movies that I’m very excited for. Which ones are they? Here’s my 10 most anticipated fall 2025 movies. Let’s get started!

HONORABLE MENTIONS (No Particular Order)

  • Spinal Tap II: The End Continues (September 12th, 2025)
  • After the Hunt (October 10th, 2025)
  • Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere (October 24th, 2025)
  • Predator: Badlands (November 7th, 2025)
  • Avatar: Fire and Ash (December 19th, 2025)
  • Song Sung Blue (December 25th, 2025)

10. The Conjuring: Last Rites (September 5th, 2025): If you’ve been following along with my blog lately then you know that I’ve been reviewing every film in the Conjuring universe leading up to this film’s release. This is a film that I’m excited for because it’s promised to be the final film in this universe so inherently, I’m just excited to see what that means and how it’s going to close out this franchise. Ed and Loraine Warren are some of the more interesting characters in modern horror. Patrick Wilson and Vera Fermiga are fantastic in their roles and they have fantastic chemistry with each other. The fact that I’m reviewing all of the previous films does have a certain level of excitement just to see if watching and reviewing all of those films are worth it. Now, the Conjuring universe is very hit or miss. The main line Conjuring films are all good, the third one being the weakest, but not a bad film. All of the spinoffs are either good or bad. Given the main line Conjuring films with Ed and Loraine are good, I’m thinking this film will be good and probably on par with the third film…but there’s also a world where it disappoints. I’m not sure what to expect but sometimes the unknown is what makes it scary.

9. Shelby Oaks (October 3rd, 2025): Another horror film this is one directed by legendary film YouTuber Chris Stuckman. If you know the film space on YouTube at all then you know that Chris Stuckman is one of the top YouTubers that’s been doing this the longest. The fact that a guy that was passionate about movies who started a YouTube channel years back is now making a movie with Mike Flanagan as a producer is very cool. Naturally, I’m excited to see this film and support a YouTube movie pursuing his dreams. As for the movie itself it’s basically a horror investigation film about a girl who goes missing and so her older sister has to try and find her. Whenever there's a mix of horror and mystery, it’s a movie that’s pretty much designed for me and something I’m really going to enjoy. The trailer does a great job of teasing the mystery and the scares but not giving a whole lot away. It creates this unsettling atmosphere that makes you intrigued to see what this film is going to be about. When you put those pieces together, this is a film that I’m very excited to go out and support.

8. The Smashing Machine (October 3rd, 2025): Moving away from horror into the sports genre. This is a film that I’m very curious about because it’s a sports drama biopic starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. I’m inherently very curious about seeing The Rock doing a dramatic role and not his normal action movie star persona. Over the past week, Variety released articles this week saying where the industry believes who’s getting Oscar nominations, The Rock is beating out both Daniel Day-Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio which is pretty insane. Beyond that, I like sports movies so getting one that feels and looks a little bit different is interesting to me. Especially when MMA fighting isn’t something that I know a lot about, I’m excited to learn more about it through a biopic format. You also have Emily Blunt in here as the love interest. I’m a big fan of hers and she seems to be picking very interesting projects lately. The film premieres at the Venice Film Festival on September 1st, so we’ll find out very soon if The Rock is able to deliver a believable dramatic performance.

7. One Battle After Another (September 26th, 2025):This is the latest film from Paul Thomas Anderson, he isn’t a director that I’m super familiar with. But the vibe I’m getting from the trailers is basically Leonardo DiCaprio’s version of Taken directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, that’s an odd mix of ingredients that sounds interesting to me. Both Thomas Anderson and DiCaprio are highly acclaimed talents in their respective fields that have each gotten multiple Oscar nominations, I have a lot of faith that they’re creating something really good. The trailer hooked me by showing this crazy adventure that looks more fun than most DiCaprio and Thomas Anderson films. There’s a star studded cast with Sean Penn, Benedio del Toro, and Regina King filling out the cast. When it looks to be a prestigious version of Taken, while being fun, and having a great cast it’s a film that I’m very curious to check out. Plus, parts of the film were shot in Sacramento, California which is about an hour from where I’m from which is kind of cool. Even getting to watch the film and see what parts I recognize will be a lot of fun.

6. Frankenstein (November 7th, 2025): This is probably going to be one of the major Oscar contenders going into awards season. This is the latest film from Guillermo del Toro telling his version of Frankenstein. Guillermo is just so good with these weird creatures and production designs, so him doing Frankenstein feels like a match made in heaven. The fact that Guillermo was pushing for a theatrical release and Netflix giving him one means that they probably have really good faith in this film and that it’ll be very good. I’m a big fan of Oscar Isaac so seeing him in the lead of this film, seeing him continue to work with top tier filmmakers and hopefully get some award love this award season. The rest of the cast has Jacob Elordi, Christop Waltz, Mia Goth, Charles Dance, and more familiar faces. I haven’t watched the trailer for the film and that’s kind of intentional that I wanna experience this film without seeing much about it.

5. The Running Man (November 14th, 2025): The second Stephen King adaptation releasing this fall (we’ll talk about the second in a few minutes). The only experience I have with this story is from watching the trailer. I haven’t read the book or seen the Arnold Schwarzenegger adaptation. But it’s this interesting premise about a guy trying to survive for 30 days in order to win a lot of money. That’s a fun premise that if done right can make for a really fun, thrilling, and enjoyable film. Edgar Wright is a great filmmaker that knows how to make really fun and enjoyable films and it looks like he's bringing that to this film. You seem to be getting a very lively and energetic performance by Glen Powell, who’s continuing to work with great talent. The supporting cast also seems to be a lot of fun with Michael Cera, Colman Domingo, Josh Brolin, Sean Hayes, and William H. Macy. Lee Pace is also in the film who I saw on Late Night with Seth Meyers back in July and he said the film was really good and vibrant. When you put it all together you have great source material, a fun premise, a great cast, and a great director who all seem to be making a really fun movie.

4. Zootopia 2 (November 26th, 2025): The long awaited sequel to Zootopia that made $1 billion at the box office. Why it took them nine years for a sequel to come out, I’ll never know but we’re finally getting one. I’m a big fan of the original and I think it’s one of Disney’s best of the last 15 years. Given that the film was a body cop film with animals it set up this whole world of other stories to tell. It was a film that lent itself so well to a sequel. The idea of getting another adventure with these characters in this populated world sounds awesome. We’ve only gotten one trailer for the film so I’m not entirely sure what the mystery for the film is going to be. What they’ve teased so far seems a bit simplistic but maybe they’re holding stuff back and not trying to reveal too much. The trailer promises that it’ll have all of the charm, magic, and humor that made the original work so well. I hope there’s more pop culture references in this film to add an extra spice of humor into the mix. Once we get a full length trailer that shares more of what the film is about, this film could move up or down on the list. But as of right now, I feel safe putting this film at #4.

3. The Long Walk (September 12th, 2025): This is the first Stephen King adaptation releasing this film and the one that I’m more excited for. Once again, I haven't read the book (haven’t read any Stephen King books in fact). As soon as I saw the trailer for the film, I was hooked and knew it was a film that I wanted to see. If you don’t know what this film is about, it involves a group of teenagers who compete in a contest where they have to walk at a certain speed or they get shot. And the contest ends when there’s only one person left. When you watch the trailer for the film you get this sense of dread and tension. You feel the danger of what’s going on mixed with not knowing who’s going to survive and who’s going to get shot. Mark Hamill is the main antagonist of the film, getting to see Mark Hamill go full evil and despicable is something that I’m very eager to see. It’s also written by JT Moller who wrote Strange Darling from last year. That was one of my favorite films of last year so I'm excited that he’s getting more opportunities. The director of the film is Francis Lawrence who directed several of The Hunger Games films, at first it seems like a strange pick but he has experience creating thrilling scenarios to put teenagers in. Critics have already started to see the film and the reviews are calling it one of the best Stephen King adaptations of all time.

2. Wicked: For Good (November 21st, 2025): This is probably my mom’s most anticipated movie of all time. She adores Wicked and I think we’re actually going to make this a family event on Thanksgiving day with my grandparents. I was not excited for Wicked last year, the premise didn’t sound interesting and the trailers didn’t win me over. When I saw the film I loved it and it was one of my favorite movies of last year. Given that it ended on a cliffhanger and it’s only part one of the story, I’m very excited for what the next story is going to be. I don’t really know what the next story is and how it ties into The Wizard of Oz. Given that it’s the same creative team and they shot these films back to back, I have a feeling this is going to be another incredible production filled with great songs and set pieces. Excited to see more of these characters and where all of their arcs are heading into The Wizard of Oz. I debated putting this film at #1, but I have heard that the second half of the Broadway play isn’t as good as the first half. I am a bit nervous that this film could be a step down in quality. That’s a bit small in my eyes, I’m overall very excited for this film and what it’s going to be. Plus, there’s very many movies that my mom is excited for so the fact she’s excited for this one is pretty cool.

1. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (December 12th, 2025):If you’ve followed my blog for a long time or know me personally then you know that I loved the previous two Knives Out films. I thought both of them were a lot of fun and so well written and directed by Rian Johnson. Knives Out is one of my favorite movies of all time. Naturally, I’m very excited for a third film with Rian Johnson returning to write and direct the film. I do think it’s a bit of a shame this film is only coming to Netflix, I think these films play really well in theaters. But regardless, I’m very very excited for this film. I’m not even sure what the title “wake up dead man” means and if that implies this is more of a horror/supernatural film that gets trippy and weird. Based on the set photos and the little teaser we got, it seems like that religion and the church play a part in the film. Once again, Johnson recruited a star studded cast filled with the established talent plus some up and comers that I'm glad are getting more work. It’s also cool to see Jeremy Renner in a movie like this after his incident a couple of years back. Plus, this is just such a fun role for somebody like Daniel Craig to play. Based on the track record of the previous films plus the possible horror direction this film could be going, is very intriguing to me.
