Disney+ Marvel Season Finales Ranked

Disney+ Marvel Season Finales Ranked

Just a couple days ago we got the conclusion of Ms. Marvel, that means we now have seven shows and seven season finales. So today here is my ranking of all seven finales of the Disney Marvel shows. Let’s get started!

NOTE: This post will contain SPOILERS for all of these episodes, so if you haven’t seen any of these episodes be careful what you read.

7. For All Time. Always. (Loki): Now I know this is an unpopular opinion putting this episode in last place. Because a bunch of people really dug this episode, and loved it because of how important it was to the future of the MCU. And that stuff is very interesting, I’m glad that we got that in this show. It’s great to see Jonathan Majors as Kang, and I liked the energy and vibe he brought to the mix. But I don’t like how talky this finale got, where about 85% of this episode is Loki, Sylvie, and Kang talking about the multiverse. And it’s interesting, but I don’t get why they didn’t do a montage or instead of talking about 85% of the episode talk for 30%-40% of the episode. So I was watching and pretty bored by it, interested in what they were talking about. But bored with the fact as to how much talking there was. I wouldn’t dislike this episode if it wasn’t the finale, if this was episode 6 of 9 episodes I’d probably like it a bit more. But as the season finale I was very disappointed with it.

6. Gods and Monsters (Moon Knight): After having a couple of months to process Moon Knight and this episode. I can say that I liked the show and this episode, but the show didn’t do anything to make me love it or hate it. And that’s what I feel about this episode. It’s great to see Moon Knight and Mr. Knight gets a lot of great and memorable action sequences. You get this boss fight with these gods, that’s very fun to see. Layla becoming a superhero I thought worked and liked the way it was used in the episode. But the big issue with this episode is it’s the shortest episode of the season but has enough plot for two episodes. It just rushes from plot point to plot point so quickly that it’s hard to follow and some of the moments don’t hit as well as they should. And I think the usage of the Jake Lockley character was very weird, I don’t think the way he was used in this episode worked at all.

5. What If…The Watcher Broke His Oath? (What If…?): If Moon Knight was the finale that was kind of just there for me. This is the episode that I’m most split on, and the most frustrating episode. Because it’s a lot of fun to see Supreme Strange, Captain Carter, Party Thor, and all of these heroes team up to stop Evil Vision/Ultron. Everybody gets a moment to shine, Supreme Strange gets a lot of great character development that all worked for me. But when The Watcher is telling everybody that Evil Vision is the most powerful being in the universe, he needs an elite team to stop him. Why would you get Black Widow, Killmonger, Gamora, and Captain Carter stop this being that is the most powerful being in the universe. That just doesn’t make any sense to me, and was a big turning off point for me in this episode. Sure, getting Doctor Strange and Thor to help with this makes sense. But half of the team don’t have any powers whatsoever, so it just didn’t make any sense to me.

4. No Normal (Ms. Marvel): After some weaker episodes with 3,4,5 and I thought this was a nice return to form. And gave me more of what I liked about the first two episodes of the show. It was directed by the same directors for those episodes, while the others were directed by other people. And I think having that energetic style to the whole thing really helps this episode, but if all 6 of the episodes were like this episode then it would easily be a top tier show. As for the episode itself, it’s a fun conclusion to the show and it is fun to see Kamala and her friends take down Damage Control in a school, it’s a finale that really fits the show. And some of the information revealed in this episode is very exciting, and excited to see where it goes in future MCU projects. What puts this one outside of the top 3 is one the visuals for Kamala and Kamran’s powers look really cheap, they aren’t good. Second, Nakia starts having trust issues with Kamala and I dont’t think it was set up at all and doesn’t work for me. But in general, a solid episode to close out the show.

3. So This is Christmas? (Hawkeye): A very good season finale that I thought closed out this show (or season) very nicely. And as a point of reference, the top three here all range from B+ and above. And what I thought worked best about this episode is you really get Clint and Kate being partners. That was something that the show was building towards, having them be partners, having Clint respect Kate even more. And I thought they handled that very well. I also like the action scene where they are destroying Kingpin’s henchmen with all of the different arrows. It's a total Hawkeye thing to do and it works for me. Getting to see Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin inside of the MCU is just great, and I like that they are bridging Marvel Netflix and the MCU. And I’m thinking that Kingpin isn’t dead, if he was dead they would have shown it on screen. So I’m very curious to see where they take Kingpin and Echo in the Echo tv show coming next year.

2. The Series Finale (WandaVision): I know this episode was one that people were frustrated by, and didn't appreciate all that much. They liked how the show was building intrigue, something totally different for the MCU, and in the finale it goes for spectacle and all out action. As for me, I dug the action in this episode and I liked this episode. I’ve seen the episode two times, the second time after hearing all of the issues that people had with the episode and I don’t view that as a weak point. This is an episode that delivers on Wanda becoming The Scarlet Witch, getting The Scarlet Witch costume. It’s fun to see two different versions of Vision talking about philosophy with one another, it’s a total Vision thing to do. And the moment where Wanda loses her kids and Vision is very emotional, it’s a gut punch of a scene. And is the best moment of the show for me.

1. One World, One People (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier): Now this is an episode that I watched for the first time with my dad, and we were both freaking out watching this episode. And the big part of that is when Sam Wilson first comes in, and he has the Captain America shield and costume. It’s the conclusion to Sam’s arc in the show from being cynical about being the new Captain America to fully embracing being Captain America by the end of the show. You get Bucky making amends with people, telling the truth to the old man that he killed his son. And I don’t know why but I love the scene at Sam’s family boat as they are doing the BBQ, it hits all of the right notes for me. You get Julia Louis-Dreyfuss continuing her plans to recruit people. So all in all, I love this episode and I think it’s a top tier episode of all of the shows. So it’s number 1.

There you have it, my ranking of the seven Disney Marvel season finales. Which of these season finales is your favorite? Thanks for reading!
