My Pitch for The Batman 2

My Pitch for The Batman 2

The Batman is one of the biggest movies of 2022, it’s grossed almost $800 million at the worldwide box office and it holds an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. And just last month we got confirmation that a sequel is happening. And this week the movie finally drops on Blu Ray. So it seemed like the perfect time to pitch my idea of a sequel. Let’s get started!

Basic Set-Up: Set 1 year after the events of the original movie, The Riddler’s trial is about to take place. Riddler’s lawyer happens to be Harvey Dent, a world class lawyer that lives in Gotham City. And the trial begins with Dent as Riddler’s lawyer. But through-out the trial Batman learns that maybe Harvey Dent isn’t as good as he is making himself, so Batman, Gordon, and some other people try to reveal all of the secrets that Harvey Dent has. All leading up to a big finale at Arkham where Two-Face breaks out The Riddler, and The Joker is let free into Gotham too.

Main Characters/Character Arcs:

  • Bruce Wayne/Batman: Primarily, I want Batman and Bruce Wayne’s character arc to be a continuation of the original movie. Where you have him being both a better vigilante and a better citizen of Gotham. You have that little boy from the first movie show up a couple times in this movie, and have them talk and interact just a little bit more. Establish this friendship between the two of them. You will have Batman once again teaming up with Gordon for a large portion of this movie, they are investigating Harvey Dent’s mysterious past.

  • Selena Kyle/Catwoman: In my verizon you have Selena in Bludhaven, or wherever she went at the end of the original movie. She’s been there living a normal life with a significant other, and she hasn’t been Catwoman since the events of the previous movie. So her arc in the movie is a coming out of retirement type arc. Where she’s resistant at first, then is willing to help Batman, and then her suiting up in the Catwoman suit is the cavalry moment in the finale. And at some point in this movie, I’m not quite sure how but you have her learn that Bruce Wayne and Batman are the same person.

  • Gordon: Once again, he is going to be partnered up with Batman for a larger portion of this movie. But he is going to get a partner within the GCPD, Harvey Bullock. Just to give Gordon something interesting to do, and you get the impression that very early on he’s not a good cop. He is hiding something for sure, and we do learn later on that he is working with Harvey Dent, and is helping Dent get information to help the case with Riddler.

  • The Riddler: And he’s not going to be the main villain of the movie, but very much a secondary villain of the movie. And he’s going to be an important part of the movie, but he’s not going to be as prominent through-out the movie. But he is going to be one of those people that is being manipulated by both Harvey Dent and Joker, and he doesn’t realize it. We get more of that creepy relationship with Joker, and you get some great scenes with them in this movie. With Dent, it’s going to be a very different relationship from what we’ve seen before. And in the finale, Riddler breaks out of Arkham with the help of Dent, and Joker escapes too which causes chaos and havoc in Gotham City.

  • Harvey Dent/Two-Face: Now this is going to be the movie’s main villain, the threat that is pulling everything through-out the movie. And how I want him to be used is you have him as Riddler’s lawyer, and to the public he’s a great guy. He’s a guy that helps out Gotham…but behind the scenes, what the public doesn’t see is an evil man. Use him kind of like how Lex Luthor has been used in the comic books and in movies. And I think you do that with Two-Face and you could get a great, new, and fresh version of the character. And Harvey Bullock is going to be in this movie (like how I said earlier), and he’s working with Dent. But towards the end of the movie, that’s when Dent becomes Two-Face. And Bullock is the one that puts acid on Dent’s face. I’m not sure exactly how that would play out. But I think that would be a nice touch.

Casting:

  • Harvey Dent/Two-Face: For this character I want somebody who you can buy as both the good lawyer who is a good guy that helps out Gotham. But also as the guy who can be this evil man who is doing terrible things, and he needs to be able to play those in the same scenes. I’m going to go with MATT DAMON, he’s one of my favorite actors of all time. He’s been nominated for multiple Oscars, and I think he could really bring something great to this character.

  • Harvey Bullock: For this one I want somebody who can be for lack of a better word clueless, have a friendship with Gordon. But early one, also knows that he is hiding something, he’s not as good as he says he is. And when I was creating this character, DAVID HARBOR kept on coming to mind. I think he would be a great version of the character, the clips that I’ve seen from Stranger Things seem to indicate that he can pull off this type of character rather well.
