5 Things I Want to See in Kenobi

5 Things I Want to See in Kenobi

In one week the highly anticipated Star Wars show, Kenobi drops on Disney+. So in today’s blog post I’m going to be sharing 5 things I want to see in Kenobi. Let’s get started!

  • Great Villains: One of my big issues with The Book of Boba Fett was the fact that none of the villains were developed or fleshed out. We didn’t know what the threat of the season was until the final 5 minutes of episode 6. So I hope with this show, they change that and we do get a great set of villains. And based off of the 2 trailers that we’ve gotten so far, it seems like that is the case. Obviously, The Grand Inquisitor seems like he’s going to be the main villain of the season, and we already know this just based off of the trailers. We know that Darth Vader is going to be in the show, how much of the main villain I’m not sure. But it’s great and exciting that Hayden Christensen is returning.

  • Kenobi vs Darth Vader: In the trailers we have gotten a tease of Vader’s return, we haven’t actually seen him in the trailers. But, we know that Hayden Christensen is returning and Darth Vader is back. Why wouldn’t you have Kenobi and Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker himself fight it out 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. And it’s not going to be a lazy fight with 45 year old technology. But with 21st century technology you can do something epic and awesome. So I don’t care when in the show we get it, but I think it would be very cool and awesome if we got a rematch between Kenobi and Darth Vader. And if we don’t, that would be a big let down, and a massive disappointment for millions of fans around the world.

  • Something new and different: One of the fun things they’ve been doing with these Disney Star Wars shows, is really doing something new and different in the world of Star Wars. The Mandalorian is essentially a western set in space. The Book of Boba Fett has that western vibe that also has The Godfather vibes, once again something new and different for Star Wars. And even though we are going back to the time period in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. And I’m not sure what direction and what vibe I want for this show but continuing what the other shows did. Actually…I just came up with an idea to maybe do The Fugitive set in the world of Star Wars. That’s a good meta because The Fugitive from 1993 starred Harrison Ford, one of the godfathers of the Star Wars franchise.

  • A deep dive into Kenobi: The prequels are not the best trilogy out there, and I think that most people would agree. You can pinpoint a bunch of issues with those movies, BUT nobody blams Ewan McGregor, he was probably the best part of that trilogy. And so getting to see more of him with a 6 hour run time, exploring Kenobi as a character. And I sure hope that as we understand him as a character more, we get to know more about him. But not in a way that ruins the character, but in a way that is interesting and adds just enough layers to him to make him interesting.

  • The Return of Qui-Gon Jinn: Now Qui-Gon Jinn is a super interesting character that has been explored in The Phantom Menace as well as The Clone Wars. But it’s been over 20 years since we’ve seen him in live action. And Liam Nesson ever since this show was announced has expressed interest in returning as the character. And they have these force ghosts appear in the Star Wars universe, and maybe you have a scene where after a battle Kenobi is down on his luck and you have a deaged Liam Nesson as a force ghost giving Kenobi some advice, I wouldn’t be surprised if that actually does happen in the show. And I’m thinking that in some way shape or form Liam Nesson returns to the world of Star Wars.

  • Explore the criminal underworld of Tatooine: I’m guessing that about 85% of this show is going to be one Tatooine, we might explore some other worlds. But a large portion of this show is going to be on Tatooine and exploring it. And I hope that we get to explore more of the criminal underworld of Tatooine, and have them a big part of the show, that would be a great addition. And maybe in some way, they use this to make more connections with Crimson Dawn, and have Darth Maul return for a cameo. Maybe Emilia Clarke returns for a couple of scenes, and sets up a spin-off show with her character. THat would be very cool to see, and I’d be done if that’s what they did.
