Upcoming Superhero Movies Ranked by Exctiement

Upcoming Superhero Movies Ranked by Excitement

Both 2022 and 2023 are going to be dominated by superhero movies. Over the next 2 years we’ll be getting 24 superhero movies. So today I’m going to be ranking all 24 upcoming superhero movies ranked by excitement.

24. Static Shock (TBA): They announced this movie in the year 2021, but we haven’t really gotten any updates on it since then. All we know is that Michael B. Jordan’s production company is producing the movie. And the script is being written by Randy McKinnon who has only written short films. That doesn’t make me the most excited for this project. Once we get some casting and a trailer this could move up on the list. But as is, we don’t know much.

23. The Marvels (February 17th, 2023): The first of 4 MCU movies coming out in 2023, it was supposed to come out this year but did get delayed. And while I enjoy the original Captain Marvel movie a good bit, it’s a fun MCU movie. Not great, but good. But I don’t think the writing for the Captain Marvel character up to this point in time has been particularly good. And we don’t know much about the plot, I’m guessing this is going to tie into Secret Invasion. Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel is going to be in this movie. So we know a bit, but not enough to get me excited.

22. Deadpool 3 (TBA): Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that Deadpool 3 will be taking place inside of the MCU. So it’ll be both an X-Men movie and a MCU movie. And to be honest, I haven’t seen the previous 2 Deadpool movies. So that’s why this movie is lower on the list, I don’t know what my feelings are for those first 2 movies. So maybe Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool shows up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness this summer.

21. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 2 (TBA): They have announced that this movie is happening, Daniel Destin Cretton is returning to direct the movie. But that is really all of the information we know about it. I really dug the original movie and think it was a very solid MCU movie. So based on the strength of the original movie, I’m excited for it. But I do need to know more about it, the direction they are going down. Maybe we get another Iron Fist in this movie, or maybe the Marvel Netflix verizon.

20. DC’s League of Super Pets (May 20th, 2022): This is one that we do have a trailer for, it is coming out this summer. But the trailer looks a bit too kiddy, I know it’s an animated movie aimed for kids. But the jokes that were in the trailer didn’t really work for me. Even the magic of having Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart in a movie together is lost because they’ve worked together roughly 25 billion times. So maybe there is more depth and heart to the movie then what they are showing in the trailers.

19. Kraven the Hunter (January 13th, 2023): I honestly kind of forgot that this movie was coming out. Because they made an announcement for the show with it being revealed that Aaron-Taylor Johnson will be the title character. But we haven’t gotten any more updates on it. The director is J.C. Chandor directed Triple Frontier from 2019, but that was a little Netflix original movie. What I’m most excited to see is if this is in the same universe as Morbius or Venom or whatever.

18. Morbius (April 1st, 2022): The superhero movie that has been delayed 7 times, it was supposed to come out July 2020 but COVID happened and it kept on getting delayed. Maybe it’ll get delayed further into 2022. But the trailers haven’t really sold me on the story or the characters. But there is a rumor that the reason why it got delayed was because they wanted to do reshoots to add in a cameo, it’s rumored that it’s Andrew Garfield. And this movie is in his Spider-Man universe, that would be awesome. I’m more so excited to see how it ties into things rather than specific plot and characters.

17. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 16th, 2022): The last comic book movie to come out in 2022. And I dug the original Aquaman movie, it’s a dumb fun superhero blockbuster with likable characters. But with the information they gave us at DC Fandome was that it was a globe trotting movie exploring new worlds. And that feels a bit too specific and similar to the original movie. With a trailer this movie could move up on the list but as is, I’m excited based on the strength of the original movie.

16. Wonder Woman 3 (TBA): Now I really dug the original movie, and I enjoy Wonder Woman 1984 a good bit. But without getting a lot of information about the movie it’s hard to get too excited for the project. It sounds like this will close out the Wonder Woman franchise, doesn’t mean that Gal Gadot is done with the character. One thing that does make me nervous is that one of the issues with Wonder Woman 1984 was the script, Patty Jenkins wrote the script. She is writing the script for this movie so that makes me a bit nervous.

15. Blue Beetle (August 18th, 2023): A movie that was originally going to be an HBO Max original but decided to drop it in theaters. And I don’t know much about Blue Beetle as a character to get me excited for the project. Some of the people they have working behind the scenes aren’t necessarily the most obvious picks for a superhero movie, and that’s not a good thing. I am always excited to learn about a fairly new character that I don’t know much about. And curious to see how much this ties into the rest of the DCEU.

14. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (November 11th, 2022): This is a movie that I’m more curious than excited about. Because the star of this franchise, Chadwick Boseman tragically died in 2020. So I’m curious to see how they are going to move on without him. Plus, there has been some behind the scenes trouble that could affect the movie. But Ryan Coogler is returning to write and direct this movie, and he is a top tier director that has made some great movies in his short directortorial career.

13. Captain America 4 (TBA): With more information about this movie, it easily moved up on this list. Because I love that we are getting more time with Sam Wilson as Captain America. I know some people didn’t really like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier all that much, I really dug it and thought it was very good. But we don’t have much about this project with the information we do know, I’m excited.

12. Shazam! Fury of the Gods (June 2nd, 2023): Another sequel to which I really dug the original movie. And at DC Fandome 2021 they gave us a lot of information about the plot and what the vibe and tone of this movie is going to be. So we do know a lot about this movie, and that is a good thing in my eyes. It seems to be a much larger movie then the original film. But being a larger and more epic sequel can sometimes be an issue and doesn’t always work, and it does hurt the movie. But still, I am excited to check this movie out.

11. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quintumnia (July 21st, 2023): A movie that might seem surprising to some people that it’s not higher up on this list. I dug the previous 2 Ant-Man movies. I love that we are getting more of Kang in the MCU. But I think bringing Kang as the big bad for the third Ant-Man movie is a bit frustrating. Because part of the appeal of the Ant-Man franchise is that it is much more lighthearted and fun. But when the villain is an Avengers level threat, I think it does lose something in that.

10. Fantastic Four (TBA): This is another movie that with official casting it could move up on the list. I’m just excited to see Marvel’s first family inside the MCU, because I trust Marvel and Kevin Feige to make a good Fantastic Four movie. Which is something that we haven’t gotten before. Plus, with Spider-Man: No Way Home being a movie that I loved, I have a lot more trust in Jon Watts to do Fantastic Four. So hopefully in the near future we get official casting for these characters.

9. Batgirl (TBA): They are actually still filming this movie and I’ve heard it’s coming out in 2022, but it could also be in 2023. And this is one that over time I’ve become a lot more excited about. Because we’ve learned more and more about it, we saw what the costume looks like. The cast all around looks pretty great and it’s fun that Brendan Fraiser is being the villain of the movie. And I’m very curious what it means when Michael Keaton is the Batman in the movie and not Ben Affleck, hopefully in The Flash they will explain that.

8. Blade (TBA): This is one that they announced in 2019, and most likely won’t come out until fall of 2023. And I’m very excited to see this movie and to see what they are going to be with Blade inside of the MCU. Mahershala Ali is a 2 time Oscar winning actor, and if he picked this movie to do. Then that has me excited for this movie, and gives me a lot more faith in it. Also, with Blade being the voice talking to Kit Harrington in the end credit scene for Eternals. That has me wondering if Kit Harrington is going to show-up in this movie.

7. Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse: Part 1 (October 7th, 2022): Now even though I don’t love the original movie the way other people do. I’m still very excited for a sequel, because my big issue with that movie is that it followed close to the original story template. But with a sequel, they don’t have to do that. Plus, with it being revealed that this is a part 1 of a big story, it has me very excited and curious to check it out. It looks like we are going all through-out the multiverse with Spider-Man 2099 tying into the plot

6. Black Adam (July 29th, 2022): Now Dwayne Johnson was cast as Black Adam all the way back in September 2014. So it would nearly be 8 years from when he was cast to when his movie actually comes out. But I’m very excited to check it out just because it looks like something different in the comic book genre. The little teaser we got at DC Fandome teased a much darker movie. Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate seems like great casting to me, and he said that this movie is larger than any James Bond movie he did. So put all of it together, this seems like it could be a really good comic book movie.

5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5th, 2023): Now this one that was suppose to come out in 2020 but with Disney firing James Gunn it got pushed back, becasue WB snatched him up for The Suicide Squad. So finally in 2023 we will get to see this movie. And with The Suicide Squad being one of my favorite movies from 2021 and Peacemaker being a great tv show. I trust James Gunn to make a great third movie in the trilogy. I’m very curious on how Adam Warlock is going to tie into things. So this is one that without a trailer or knowing much about the plot, I’m very excited to check out.

4. Thor: Love and Thunder (July 8th, 2022): For a while, this was my most anticipated MCU movie. And there are a number of things about this movie that have me very excited for it. First up, I thought that Taika Waititi was a great asset to the Thor franchise and made the best of the bunch with Thor Ragnarok. Ever since Christian Bale’s time as Batman has ended, he’s been doing more prestige Oscar type movies. But he stopped that trend to do this movie. That has me excited that he picked this movie after doing 10 years of Oscar movies. And getting to see more of Thor with The Guardians of the Galaxy has me very excited.

3. The Flash (November 4th, 2022): Now I know that early this month, some rumors have been brewing about this movie erasing The Snyderverse and ending Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill as Batman and Superman. But, honestly I’m not super frustrated by that. But I can understand why it would fruster other people. But as for me, I love that we are going to get the DC multiverse. Getting Michael Keaton to return as Batman is so exciting. I’m glad that we are getting Ben Affleck as Batman one final time. And just in general, this movie looks really cool and I can’t wait to see it this fall.

2. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (May 6th, 2022): The first of 3 multiverse movies coming out in 2022. And as for me, this is the one that I’m most excited to see. We got our first look at this movie as the end credit scene for Spider-Man: No Way Home and this movie looks really cool. And I sure hope this movie delivers on some epic cameos from the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Plus, getting Sam Raimi, one of the godfathers of the superhero genre, to return 15 years later to direct a Marvel movie has me very excited. Plus, Doctor Strange is just a really awesome character.

1. The Batman (March 4th, 2022): I know, I’ve talked about this movie non-stop on my blog for a good bit in January. But honestly, this is a movie that I have so much faith in that I believe this could be one of the best Batman movies out there. All three of the trailers that we have gotten for this movie have worked for me, and been really cool. I like that it’s a grounded Batman story, not a lot of fantastical things going on in this movie. And overall, this movie looks epic and awesome. I can’t wait to see this movie in just over a month.

There you have it, my ranking of the 24 upcoming superhero movies ranked by my excitement! Which one are you most excited for? Thanks for reading!
