Top 10 Favorite MCU Moments

Top 10 Favorite MCU Moments

The MCU is arguably the biggest movie franchise of all time, it’s 23 movies in and all of them are fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s made over $20 billion at the box office. It’s a franchise that has meant so much to my life, and has so many awesome and epic moments. So today, here are my 10 favorite MCU moments of all time.

NOTE: Given the nature of this post, I will be talking about SPOILERS, so be very careful on what you read.

10. Thanos’ Snap (Avengers: Infinity War): Through-out Infinity War, it was being mentioned that if Thanos wins then he will destroy half of the universe. We all thought that Marvel didn’t have the guts to let our heroes lose, and have Thanos win. But we were wrong, they went for it. They did The Empire Strikes Back route where the Avengers lost. And the whole sequence where Wakanda , Bucky, T’Challa, Groot, Sam, and Wanda turn to dust. Then go to Titan and Mantis, Drax, Star-Lord, Doctor Strange, and the saddest one of all Spider-Man turn to dust. And this moment between Tony and Peter, I think is Tom Holland’s best acting in the MCU. You tear up just watching it, and after Tony looks at his hand. Waiting for him to turn to dust, but that doesn't happen. But I think with-out having any music playing in the background, it makes it even better.

9. Steve and Peggy’s Dance (Avengers Endgame): Another moment that doesn’t have a lot going on, it’s very simple, and it’s not epic. But this scene really works for me, and is a PERFECT way to close out Steve Rogers’ story in the MCU. Back in The First Avenger, as Steve is crashing the plane into the ice, they talk about going dancing. But he never gets to, Steve wakes up 70 years later, Peggy is 90 years old or something like that. And then in Civil War she dies, so Steve never got his dance. But in Endgame, he travels back in time and lives out his days with Peggy. And the final scene of Endgame, is Steve finally getting his dance with Peggy. I went into Endgame thinking that Steve could die. And I’m glad he didn’t, The Russo Brothers and everybody else at Marvel nailed the ending to both this movie and to Steve’s arc.

8. Daddy Vulture (Spider-Man: Homecoming): This is a movie that I like the more and more I watch it. I’ve always enjoyed it, but leaving the theater the first time I thought it was very good. But the best scene in that movie has to be, the whole pre-dance stuff with Liz and Vulture. Peter walks up to the house, knocks on the door, and Michael Keaton opens up the door. It’s revealed that Vulture is Liz’s dad, which the twist I think is great, it’s one of the great plot twists of all time. But you just feel this sense of danger in the scene. Then they get in the car, and Vulture starts putting the pieces together and learning that Peter is Spider-Man. I think this is Michael Keaton’s best acting of the movie, where he’s just great at being evil. This is one of the scenes in the MCU where I just feel this sense of danger the most, and is easily the best sequence in the movie.

7. Elevator Fight (Captain America the Winter Soldier): I think this movie has some of the best hand-to-hand fight scenes in the entire MCU. And one of the best fights in the MCU, is this sequence right here. Where Steve just walks into the elevator, and on each level more and more soldiers get on the elevator. And you just have Steve destroy like 10 people, in such a small location. And it’s awesome, and it’s one of the first moments where Steve learns that SHIELD isn’t as good people think. And this scene sets up a great moment in Endgame, with the 2012 New York little sequence. So this is truly one of the great action scenes in the MCU, and in general one of the best action scenes in any comic book or movie in general. The Russo Brothers know how to stage action, and this is a fantastic one.

6. Team-Up Shot (The Avengers): This is one of the most iconic MCU moments of all time, and such an epic movie moment. This was the first time that all 6 Avengers came together as one team. Where they are surrounded by the Chitauri, and the Chitauri are on the buildings around them. And you have The Avengers Theme by Alan Silvestri play in the background, and it moves around and you get an epic and awesome team-up shot. Once again, very simply not as epic as the moments higher up on this list. But as far as just a moment that puts a grin on my face, this is one of them. This truly one of the great MCU moments of all time. I saw this movie in the theater when it came out, but I want to see this movie in the theater for the sole purpose of having the audience’s reaction to this moment. So it barely is out of the top 5.

5. “I Am Iron Man” (Iron Man and Avengers Endgame): Both of these moments are pretty phenomenal, and honestly I don’t know which one is better. So I decided to include both of them at the same spot. The one at the end of the original Iron Man movie, the moment was improvised by Robert Downey Jr., he just came up with that and it stuck in the final cut of the movie. And that moment changed the MCU. But the moment in Avengers Endgame, is arguably the best sacrifice in a movie, where Doctor Strange just holds up 1 finger. And at that moment, Tony knows that he has to die. And you get this moment where Tony fights with Thanos, Thanos goes to snap his finger, and it doesn’t work. Turns out, Tony has it and he snaps his fingers killing Thanos and his army, and himself. This was a great way to close out Tony’s story inside of the MCU, such a satisfying and emotional way.

4. Thor’s Entrance in Wakanda (Avengers Infinity War): For me, this is the best moment inside of Avengers Infinity War. This is one of the great here comes the calvary moments in any movie. Where our Avengers in Wakanda are losing badly, Thanos’ army is destroying them. Then we see the bifrost moment open, and Stormbreaker comes out of it. And then we see Thor standing there with Rocket and Groot, and Bruce Banner says this great line that adds a nice joke into the mix. I saw somebody add the Immigrant Song to this scene, and honestly that would have been cool to see as well. But this is just a moment where you get chills going down your spine just thinking about it, and watching it puts a grin on my face---and gives me chills. So this is my favorite moment from Infinity War, and is Thor’s best moment inside of the MCU.

3. Airport Battle (Captain America: Civil War): This is truly an epic action sequence. The previous 90ish minutes of this movie were building to a big showdown between Team Captain America and Team Iron Man. And this is a long sequence, it’s not down in like under 10 minutes. It’s close to 20 minutes long and everybody gets a moment to shine. Some of the funniest moments in the movie are when Sam and Bucky are fighting Spider-Man. And it ends with Falcon finally taking Peter out and Bucky goes “you couldn’t have done that earlier?”. Then Sam goes “I hate you”, a classic moment between them. And possibly one of the moments that lead to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier being made. But this is just every comic book fans dream of seeing Avengers fight one another.

2. Captain America is Worthy! (Avengers Endgame): This is one of those moments that if you weren’t there opening weekend when this movie happened, then you lost out. It starts with Thor and Thanos fighting, Thanos is beating the heck out of Thor. Mijnoir gets tossed to the side, Thor isn’t doing too well . We see Mijnoir fly up, and goes into Captain America’s hand. And when I saw this movie opening night, my theater was just freaking out with excitement. I almost ---- my pants, and it just worked and is an awesome moment. That was set-up by a comedic moment in Age of Ultron, when you watch that scene and you think that it is going to go nowhere. But it sets up this moment so well. And this is one of the best theater experiences of all time, where my theatre went insane when this moment happened. So easily, it’s the runner-up moment.

1. The Portals (Avengers Endgame): I’ve talked about this movie roughly---1 billion times on my blog. And I’ve repeatedly mentioned that this moment is my favorite movie moment of all time. And it’s a nice follow-up to Cap being worthy, where Cap and Thanos start fighting and Thanos beats Cap. And Cap throws his ear piece hears Sam say “on your left”, and portals start opening and all of the dead people from Infinity War come back. Just talking about it makes me so giddy and I literally have a big smile on my face just writing about it. But, I think the music by Alan Silvestri is one of the great movie themes of all time, where you feel these epic Avengers moments through the music. But then Cap says the iconic catchphrase “Avengers Assemble”, that we’ve been waiting forever to hear those words. So easily without question, this moment is the best moment in the MCU, and my favorite movie moment of all time.
