Justice League Review
Justice League is the 5th to come out in the DCEU, and was released in November 2017. I re-watched the movie for my DCEU Review Series. So let’s start talking about Justice League.
The Good:
I think this film has a great cast, all of the cast members have a nice chemistry with one another. Ezra Miller as the Flash, I really enjoy him he is the more fun Barry Allen so he has a lot of funny moments in the movie. But getting to see Wonder Woman and Batman team-up again is fun to see. Just the entire cast does a very good job with the script and role they are given. So I thought the cast was the best part of the movie.
And it is also a ton of fun getting to see the Justice League on the big screen. Just them coming together to stop an apocalypse from happening is fun to see. Like I said they all have a nice chemistry among them. So maybe this isn’t the best movie of all time, but I thought one of the good things about the movie was getting to see the Justice League come together and form a team. I thought it was done very well.
The film moves at a nice pace, the team gets together very quickly. And the moves around from scene to scene very quickly, so I was never bored by the movie. It has a lot of entertainment to be had in the movie whether it’s action or humor. There is plenty of entertainment to go around.
And with that, the action in the movie I thought was handled very well. Even having Batman fighting parademon is exciting and so is the big final battle showdown with the villain of the movie. The stand out being the fight scene where the Justice League fight the newly woken up Superman it is shot well and just fun to see superheroes take on the Man of Steel.
Lastly, I keep on mentioning this but the film has a nice sense of humor in the movie. Most of it comes up Ezra Miller. One of the funniest scenes in the movie is when Barry Allen first meets Bruce Wayne and Allen asks Wayne “What are your superpowers again?. And Bruce says “I’m rich”. Or when Aquaman is accidentally sitting on the lasso of truth so his feelings about the team is revealed, very funny stuff in the movie.
The Bad:
Like most of the villains in the DCEU, Steppenwolf is not a good villain. He feels like a villain that is there just to be there and that’s not good. For a Justice League villain he should pose this threat to the Jusitce league but here he doesn’t he is somewhat of a puppet to Darkseid’s plan that’s not good, he should be a lot better of a villain.
Also the colors change in the movie, even the way characters look change. Ben Affleck looks like a different person in the final battle of Justice League then he does in the first act of the movie. That is probably because of the director switch from Zack Snyder to Joss Whedon. And even the movie gets a lot more colorful in the third act, and that’s distracting when the colors change in a movie.
Lastly, some of the CGI for the movie doesn’t look good. On Superman you can tell that something is wrong with his face. Because something was wrong with his face. So a story, when Henry Cavill was filming this movie he was also filming Mission Impossible: Fallout, and in that movie he had a mustache. Superman doesn’t have a mustache, so Warner Brothers had to pay 20 million dollars just to remove the mustache from Henry’s face with CGI. So that looks not good, but the CGI for Steppenwolf also doesn’t look the best.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, Justice League is a good movie, that I don’t hate the way some other people hate this movie. It’s not as good as a live action Justice League movie should be. I still have a pretty good time with this movie.
The Score: 7.8/10 (B)
